Enhanced 911 (E911)

Dialing 911

In the event of an emergency, dial 911 from the CX dialpad.

Introduction

Enhanced 911 (E-911 or E911) is a system used in North America to automatically provide the caller's location to 911 dispatchers.

To set the address within CX softphone, follow this guide.

E911 is only available if your instance of CX is located in US East (N. Virginia) or US West (Oregon),

Saving Address

Upon successfully logging into CX, if an address is not set, you will be prompted to enter your current address.

Enter your address as follows, then select 'Save':

Invalid Address

Addresses are validated upon saving. In the event that the address validation fails, a message will be displayed. Please ensure all address field values match the descriptions above.

Updating Address

At any time, to reset your address, select the user avatar, then 'Preferences', then select 'My Location'.

Either enter a new address, or select 'Clear' to clear the currently saved address.

Testing 911 Address Configuration

At any time, dial 933 to validate configuration. Calls will have an audio playback message confirming:

  • The number the call originated from.
  • The physical address that was sent along with the call.
